The KFC Scholars Award

If you missed the KFC $20,000 Twitter scholarship, don’t worry. You may still be eligible for the annual KFC Scholars Award.

Winners of the KFC Scholars Award will be given up to $5,000 annually; the scholarship money can be used for tuition, books, room and board, and fees.

To be eligible for the KFC Scholars Award, you must:

  • Be a high school senior graduating this school year (between 12/1/10 and 8/31/11)
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Plan on attending an in-state, public university or college

To apply for this scholarship, visit the Colonel online at KFCScholars.org. KFC will be accepting applications for this scholarship program from December 1, 2010 to February 9, 2011.

FAFSA It’s that time of year again! Yes, millions of students, like you, will be seeking federally funded financial assistance to reach their college goals.

So, what’s the mystery? Exactly, what is FAFSA? The acronym stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

The FAFSA is an electronic form used to determine your eligibility for student grants, work-study, and loans. The application is important because it decides whether you will receive free money, like a Federal Pell Grant, and is used by universities to distribute financial aid packages.

The comprehensive form, roughly 100 questions, asks for details about you and your family’s financial background, including income and assets.
