How to Win Scholarships

How Do You Win Scholarships?

Today’s Question: “How do you win scholarships?”

You did all the right things…you decided to search for scholarships, you found a bunch, and applied for several. But, how do people actually win scholarships? There is no magic answer, but there are some things you can do to increase your odds of winning a scholarship. In this short video, Ashley, our scholarship expert, will give you some tips on how to increase your chances of making it to the finalist’s pool.

  1. First, be willing to work hard for what you want; this may require you to take some extra steps. For example, if you find a scholarship that you are eligible for, but the organization hasn’t posted an updated application yet, be proactive! Don’t be afraid to call the scholarship provider and ask for a copy of the application.
  2. Second, meet your scholarship deadlines. If you are required to have something postmarked by a certain date, make sure you mail it in a few days before that, just in case.
  3. Next, stay organized. If you don’t mark your calendar with deadline dates, or you send in the wrong essay for an award, it could cost you.
  4. Finally, remain dedicated and have a positive attitude; understand that you should take the time to apply for scholarships every month, and don’t give up. Believe in yourself and your ability to win!
