I’m a single mom – who’s son received a partial athletic scholarship, BUT I am still out of pocket for $9,000/year. We have applied to MANY scholarships & contests. I have done many hours of research on finding money for college. My question to you – have you heard any positive feedback from individuals using fundraising websites to get donations from total strangers?

    • Tamara Krause says:

Hi Melissa. I have heard of some success stories using crowdfunding. In most cases, the student had a very unique story or a strong social network. Check out my ‘5 Steps to a Successful Crowdfunding Campaign’ before diving in, and research any site you decide to use. There are tons of them, but look for those with a good history of successful campaigns.

    Dear Tamara,

Hi Tamara. My name is Chris and I am a first time college freshman. I am going to apply to all of these scholarships! Except the first one because it doesn’t apply to me.

Because you spent the time to write this, I am going to spend the time to thank you….so thanks!
