Rinse and Repeat

Rinse & Repeat: Scholarships You Can Apply to Every Month!

“If at first you don’t succeed – try, try again!” My mother was fond of using these words of wisdom to motivate me, whether I was trying to complete a double-somersault off our pool’s diving board or attempting to score higher on my college entrance exams, she always encouraged me to give it another shot. In the world of scholarships, getting a second chance doesn’t happen very often, at least not on a consistent basis. Most programs are offered annually, which means students need to be vigilant and keep track of those awards they missed and reapply again next year. Even if students use a scholarship search service, it can seem like a lot of work keeping up with everything. I get it; winning scholarships isn’t easy, but just like basketball, it may take a few shots before students score a slam dunk. The only way to win is to keep at, so I have compiled a list of what I like to call ‘rinse and repeat’ scholarships. These awards are available every month, so students can keep applying until they get it right.

1. Courage to Grow Scholarship

U.S. high school juniors, seniors, and college students with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher are eligible to apply. Students must submit an essay (200 words or less) on the topic posted for that month.

Award amount: $500 (1)

College Scholarship2. GotChosen Monthly Scholarship

It doesn’t get much simpler than this one. U.S. undergraduate students simply need to register for a free account with GotChosen and they’ll automatically be entered in this monthly scholarship drawing.

Award amount: $1,000 (1)

3. Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest

Students who are 16 years or older may submit an essay (200 to 900 words) addressing the topic posted between the 1st and 15th of each month. All essays will then be posted online. The five entries with the most votes will be selected as finalists. One winner will be chosen from the final group.

Award amount: $1,000 (1)

4. A GPA Isn’t Everything Scholarship

Students whose grade point average is sinking faster than the Titanic may want to apply for this monthly scholarship. High school and college students must complete a profile to be entered to win.

Award amount: $1,000 (1)

Academic Scholarship

5. Pursue Your Passion Scholarship

Students, 18 years or older, must create an account and submit a short essay explaining why they are passionate about learning. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.

Award amount: $1,000 (1)

6. No Essay Scholarship

Every month, College Prowler offers a chance for high school, college and non-traditional students to earn free money for college. Students (or those planning to return to school within 12 months) simply need to register for a free account to be entered to win.

Award amount: $2,000 (1)

Another program students should consider is the Young Christian Leaders Scholarship, which provides two (2) $1,000 awards each month. Applicants can only submit one application, but they are eligible to win up to three times per year.  ScholarshipExperts.com is another ‘rinse and repeat’ provider, offering a new scholarship opportunity each month. The awards range in value from $1,000 to $5,000 each, but the essay is always 250 words or less; it’s a simple and fun way to earn some free college cash. Like most things in life, practice makes perfect, so students should save this list of scholarships and keep trying. With a little luck and perseverance, they may be able to score enough cash to help pay for some books and other college expenses.
