This award is for Texas students who are attending or planning to attend a public, two-year college in the state of Texas. The student must demonstrate financial need and have an Expected Family Contribution of $2,000 or less.

The award amount may vary based on the type of institution the recipient is attending. For the current academic year, the maximum amount is: $7,700 per year for public universities and state college students; $2,640 per year for public community college students; and $4,440 per year for public technical college students. Students who continue in college and who meet program academic standards can receive awards for up to 75 semester credit hours, for four years, or until they receive an associate's degree, whichever comes first.
