Students attending an ABA-approved law school in the United States who are 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter this writing contest. The goal of this contest is to encourage and reward law student writings on real property, probate, and trust law subjects of general and current interest.
Please note: Although the application deadline for this award has passed, we wanted you to know about this award as a possibility for next year. The first-place winner will receive $2,500 cash and a one-year free membership in the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, plus free round-trip airfare and weekend accommodations to attend the section's fall leadership meeting (airfare, hotel accommodations, and luncheon ticket are valued at approximately $1,000). The first-place winner's essay will be considered for publication in the 'Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Journal', and may appear in an upcoming issue.The first-place winner will also be announced in an upcoming issue of 'Probate & Property', the section's magazine. The second-place winner will receive $1,500 cash and an honorable mention in 'Probate & Property'. The third-place winner will receive $1,000 cash and an honorable mention in 'Probate & Property'. All cash prizes are awarded annually and are non-renewable.
