Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest

Current high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students are eligible to apply for this award. To enter, each student must write a typewritten essay of 800 to 1,600 words responding to one of three questions listed on the Ayn Rand Institute website.

Awards are for cash prizes in the amounts of: first prize, $10,000; second prizes, $2,000; third prizes, $1,000; finalist prizes, $100; semifinalist prizes, $50. All awards are made on an annual basis and are non-renewable.

84 awards offered annually: one first prize; three second prizes; five third prizes; 25 finalist prizes; 50 semifinalist prizes.
