Awards are for a loan repayment of up to 20 percent of the recipient's total eligible federal student loan balance, including principal and interest. Students must re-apply each year, and can receive forgiveness for no more than five consecutive years. The maximum award cannot exceed the average resident tuition rate established for students attending Iowa's Regent Universities for the first year following the recipient's graduation. For the current academic year, the maximum amount is approximately $6,658 annually.
