U.S. high school seniors who have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage and are less than 21 years of age are eligible for this scholarship. Students must reside within the boundaries of the geographic area of a local RMHC chapter.

Most local chapters of RMHC award $1,000 scholarships, although amounts may vary in some local program areas. All awards are given annually and are non-renewable. Scholarship funds will be paid via check directly to the accredited institution in which the student enrolls. Scholarship funds will not be paid directly, nor reimbursed, to an award recipient. Scholarship funds will be applied toward tuition, fees, and other appropriate educational expenses, as determined by RMHC.
