The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation is available to graduate students majoring in physical sciences at select partner universities of the foundation. The list of eligible schools can be found at www.hertzfoundation.org/dx/Fellowships/Guidelines/Schools.aspx. All applicants are evaluated on merit only.

Successful applicants have the choice of two fellowship options: the 'Five Year Hertz' program that offers a $31,000 nine-month personal stipend and full tuition equivalent that is renewable for up to five years; or the 'Five-Year Coordinated' program that offers a $36,000 nine-month personal stipend and full tuition equivalent for the first two years of fellowship and a $5,000 per year supplemental stipend from Hertz for the remaining three years. The 'Five-Year Coordinated' program requires the awardee to accept a three-year fellowship from another source. The 'Five-Year Hertz' program is renewable annually (upon a showing of satisfactory progress toward receipt of the Ph.D. degree) for a total fellowship tenure of no more than five years.
