This award is available for international and U.S. college sophomore and juniors who are pursing a career in metallurgical and/or materials science and engineering with an emphasis on the science and engineering of load-bearing materials, including studies into the nature of a material's physical properties based upon its microstructure and operating environment. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

- The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS)
$2,500 annually, non-renewable. Additionally, the scholarship recipient will be given up to $500 for travel expenses to the TMS Annual Meeting to accept his/her award.
- Two awards offered annually.
