This music performance competition is open to U.S. students who are 15-18 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2015; one entrant in each piano duo may be 11-18 years of age. The categories for entry in the competition are: brass (trumpet, horn, euphonium, trombone, tuba); solo piano; piano duet (one piano/four hands); string (violin, viola, cello, string bass); voice; and woodwind (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone).
Please note: Although the application deadline for this award has passed, we wanted you to know about this award as a possibility for next year. Awards are given for each category (brass, solo piano, piano duet, string, voice, and woodwind) as follows: national winner, $2,000; second place, $1,000; and merit award, $100. Please note that piano duet awards are given to the duo, not the individual performers. In the solo piano category, the winner of the best Chopin performance will receive a $1,000 renewable scholarship. The teachers of the national winners in each category will receive $200.
