This award is for Minnesota resident students who have a child 12 years old or younger and are attending or planning to attend a Minnesota public or private postsecondary institution. The student must demonstrate financial need.

Up to $2,800 for each eligible child per academic year. Assistance may cover up to 40 hours of child care per week for each eligible child. In some instances, the maximum award may be increased by 10 percent to compensate for higher market costs for infant care. Recipients are eligible to receive assistance for up to eight full-time semesters or twelve full-time quarters of postsecondary education or until the completion of a baccalaureate degree, whichever occurs first. Recipients must maintain continued enrollment and re-apply each year.
- The number of awards offered varies annually. In the 2012-2013 academic year, there were 2,666 awards disbursed.
