This scholarship is available for U.S. students between the ages of 6 and 18 who have participated in volunteer efforts that resulted in a positive community outcome and occurred within the past 12 months; the activity cannot have been performed to benefit a family member. Students must not have graduated from high school as of the date of application.

Each store winner will receive a $50 Kohl's gift card. Each regional winner will receive a scholarship worth $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Each national winner will receive a scholarship worth $10,000 annually, non-renewable, in addition to the regional scholarship. In addition, Kohl's will contribute $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on behalf of each national winner. Scholarship awards must be used for educational expenses at a qualifying institution. These expenses may include tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation and other miscellaneous education related expenses. Scholarships will be paid in one installment in August and will be mailed to each recipient's home address payable to the school for the student.
- The number of awards varies by each level. At the store level, one award will be given per store. At the regional level, there will be 180 awards given, 90 per age group. At the national level, five winners will be selected from each age group for a total of ten recipients.
