This award is available for U.S. students who have multiple sclerosis or have a parent with multiple sclerosis. Applicant must be a high school senior or high school graduate planning to enroll at least part time in college or university for the first time.

A minimum scholarship of $1,000 to a maximum award of $3,000 will awarded. The scholarship is awarded annually, and is renewable based on funding. Previous recipients of the National MS Society Scholarship are not eligible to apply again, as well as students who were not awarded and are already attending postsecondary schooling.
- The number of awards offered varies annually. The number of awards will depend on available funds and the quality of the applications. Last year, 470 scholarships were awarded.
