This scholarship is available for Texas residents who are graduating from an accredited Texas high school and rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Students must plan to enroll full time in a Texas public two- or four-year college or university, and demonstrate financial need.

Up to $2,000 per academic year. Renewal awards are contingent on available funding, students must reapply each year to be considered. To renew the award, students must meet the following criteria: complete 30 semester hours in the previous year; maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher; and complete at least 75 percent of credit hours attempted. Qualifying students with a declared major in a critical workforce shortage field (teaching shortage area, nursing, allied health, science, technology, engineering, and math) may be eligible for a bonus of $2,000. The total award amount for students with declared majors in shortage fields may not exceed $4,000.
