This award is available for West Virginia resident high school seniors who are planning to attend an eligible West Virginia public or private college or university. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have a composite ACT score of 22 or higher or a combined SAT score of 1020 or higher. The applicant must have a minimum ACT sub score of 20 in all subject areas or a minimum score of 490 on the verbal section and a 480 on the math section of the SAT.

Up to $4,750 to cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees at public or independent institutions in West Virginia. Awards are renewable for up to three additional years provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and complete a minimum of 30 credit hours per year. The amount of a PROMISE Scholarship award in combination with aid from all other sources of financial aid cannot exceed the student's cost of attendance.
